Lava La Rue Sings About Long-Distance Relationships on the single “G.O.Y.D”

“Welcome to LAVALAND. You are safe here”, the singer Lava La Rue writes on their Spotify page aiming to create a safe space for queer folks within the heteronormative music industry. The rapper and multidimensional artist started out by making underground UK Hip Hop inspired tracks and has since progressed further into alternative pop and RnB territory. G.O.Y.D. is a queer anthem dedicated to a lover separated by distance. Accompanied by the audio-visual video, the song examines emotions the pandemic has heightened for most – loneliness in time of isolation and the longing for someone out of reach. G.O.Y.D. is part of the artist’s EP Butter-Fly and shifts from a trap-reminiscent beat to their smoothly sung vocals and rapped verses. All the proceeds of the single go to the Black Trans collective, For Our Sibs, who support Black Trans, Non-Binary, Gender Non-Conforming, and Intersex communities.
