Last fall we debuted the really great DRKNSS clip by German-Iranian singer MADANII and today we’re happy to welcome her back with a stunning new song/ clip called ROSEMVRY. ‘I wrote the song after I realized I had been in a relationship where both of us weren’t communicating properly’, the artist explains. ‘We weren’t able to express our needs and feelings honestly and I was surprised about how long it had taken me to come to this realization.’ The minimalistic music video follows a close-up of the singer’s face as it dives into dark water with a pink flash, always joined by a pair of hands covering her. The visual mix of innocence and broken intimacy is set to give you the creeps and will stuck in your head for sure. She further explains: ‘I wanted to create a bubbly visual to match the pop feeling of the song but also to juxtapose the off-putting experience of watching me literally trying to stay afloat and having someone hinder me to open my mouth in kind of a violent way.’ Musically MADANII once proves once again that an overlap of cultures is not only necessary, but wonderful. Listen carefully through the chorus and you can find the sound of a kamanche – an acient Iranian string instrument.
