Mazey Haze Lifts The Spirit On Dreamy “Always Dancing”

I have to say that Mazey Haze is a pretty fitting moniker for the music of Nadine Appeldoorn. Because it perfectly sums up the dazzling dream pop sound of the 21-year old Amsterdam-based artist; one that I find quite hard to resist. The shimmering indie-pop gem Always Dancing introduces us to an artist who got a lot to say and a lot to give in terms of songwriting. According to her the song is about having an intervention with yourself after a rough period where lots of things have drastically changed. Well, I think we can all relate to that, right? She explains: “It’s about trying to figure out what it means that you have been doing and where you want to go (for the first time). Realising you have to adapt to this new situation and wanting to grow with it so you can move forward. Being closed off after giving yourself away too easily, without thinking about it. For me personally, this song is about my first realisation that I can and need to take control over my own life. I was starting to feel quite okay while being alone and started seeing the first bits of light after (what felt like) a long time of darkness.” The song is taken off her upcoming debut EP which goes by the same title and is set to arrive on October 22 via LUSTRE. Make sure to keep slow dancing to this one until then.
