Norway’s Moyka Reports Back With Bewitching New Pop Banger “Illusion”

Having amassed an already enviable back catalogue, everyone’s favourite Norwegian “pop-witch” Moyka is back with another stomping single, Illusion. Consisting of equal measures heartache and regret, the single from the Bergen-based performer is nonetheless typically buoyant. Following on from the sensational I Don’t Wanna Hold On and December (I Never Learn), both released earlier in the summer, Moyka adds her inimitable disco sparkle to Illusion, channelling her self-proclaimed Scandinavian inspirators Röyksopp and Robyn. Describing how the track came to be, Moyka explains “When I have a crush I tend to daydream and make up stories in my mind about meeting and being around the person that I like. In this song I wake up from the daydream to only find it was an illusion. Sometimes love happens like that. It’s quite naive, but that’s what makes me love it so much.” It sets the stall out beautifully for her upcoming debut album, The Revelations Of Love, set for release on 22nd October. Based on what we’ve heard so far, you’d be hard-pressed to bet against it being one of the great pop albums of the year. And while we wait, Illusion provides the perfect accompaniment whether you’re wallowing or revelling. Another slice of pop-perfection from the West coast of Norway!
