Berlin-based artist Mulay meditates on toxic relationships on the latest release MEDUSA. Channeling the mortal greek goddess as an image for the choking hold, Mulay says: “I experienced rejection, hate, condemnation and was haunted by guilt, self-hate and self-doubt. Longing to numb the pain I went down a path of self-destruction until I did not feel anything anymore.” Written from a dark place the RnB track is dripping with heavy layered synths and trippy echoes. The intoxicating loops draw you into the smooth downtempo soundscape while Mulay’s vocals tighten their grip on the listener’s ear – like a snake slowly drawing in its prey. MEDUSA is the work of a multi-facetted artist and each scale of the song glitters in a different color, yet they come together to one cohesively produced single.
