Pixey Generates Euphoria Out Of Lockdown Despair On “Electric Dream”

These days, it seems like all we can do is dream. At least, that’s the motivation behind Electric Dream, the latest single to drop from Liverpool based artist Pixey. Written “to make sense of being locked in with nothing to rely on but technology,” Pixey utilises expansive sounds to create a hopeful vibe on Electric Dream, with reverb-laden drums and uplifting melodies contributing to the positive atmosphere. It’s a modern-day reimagining of the early 90’s UK rave sound, serving up a much-needed slice of euphoria to our lives. Pixey has form for delivering anthemic tracks, with her previous efforts Just Move capturing the joyous freedom of dance pioneers The Prodigy and De La Soul, and Free To Live In Colour providing a similarly danceable sound. Electric Dream is also likely to find favour with fans of fellow British drummer-turned-songwriter Florrie, with a focus on prominent percussion and lively harmonies. It’s a testament to the talent of Pixey that her musical ability is all self-taught, having mastered the guitar and eventually drums and bass after her previous (and current) boyfriend’s left their instruments lying around, motivated by proving she could learn it quicker and play it better. Having signed to Chess Club records, the future is undeniably bright for the Lancashire born multi-instrumentalist. Electric Dream is taken from her upcoming debut EP Free To Live In Colour, which is due out on 24th March.
