Throughout this rollercoaster ride of a year that 2020 was the catchy and majestic wave pop of German shootingstar Sofia Portanet brought a lot of joy into my life and I really hope that the world will continue to take note of her in the new year. Her fabulous debut album Freier Geist already mixed German and English lyrics and now she decided to re-record an international version of Menschen und Mächte (‘People and Power’), one of the most catchy songs on the album. I Trust keeps the musical setting of the original intact which is a good thing since that part was already perfect and the Portanet‘s switch to the English language feels quite natural and not forced at all so there’s nothing standing in the way of international stardom, right? Next step is here performing at the all-digital ESNS festival later this month. Once this pandemic is hopefully gone for good I surely can’t wait to witness the magic spell of her music live on stage.
