Strand Child Recall They Heyday Of Independent Rock Purity On “Bad Hand”

Over the past years Berlin-based indie rockers Strand Child crossed our path a few times and it’s nice to still see them returning with great new material every now and then although you sometimes can’t help but thinking they were slightly born too late. Bad Hand sounds like finest late 90s, early 00s independent rock purity in the tradition of Nada Surf, Weezer, Pavement and other legends. Sharp guitars, catchy hooks and that sweet unfiltered lo-fi attitude and the defining lyric of it – ’’Are you disappointed with the way things turned out?’’ – is also a fitting thing to shout at the end of this horrible year. Strand Child might recall the sound of the past but they also sound like the promise of a better future which is hopefully just around the corner. May we all collectively dance to this anthem next summer, right?
