Who doesn’t mind a little samba in outer space, right? Not British band The Orielles, that much is for sure. The theme song from their upcoming second LP Disco Volador is a irresistible piece of funky bliss. It feels like the love child of 70s disco, boogie funk and trippy rave-infected acid house from the early 90s. Yes, there’s a certain cowbell overload… and an important message as the band confirms: “Space Samba is a song about corporeal experience, something which we feel we are collectively losing sight of in an age of mental existentialism! It is the ‘Disco Volador’ theme because it relates to the phenomenological thread of the whole album, which tackles the many interpretations of the title throughout.” This album is about human connectivity and that always works pretty good in the context of music, dance and rhythm, right? The new Orielles album arrives on February 28 via Heavenly Recordings.
