Berlin-based The Trouble Notes, who started out by busking in the streets, are now embarking on a cosmic journey. The animation project titled Sands of Time: A Cosmic Journey takes their already magical sounding instrumentals to a different space entirely. A New Hope is the first single released and starts the project with a rather dark and pensive mood. Matching the pandemic-gloom, the brooding instruments conjure a dystopian vibe. Especially the urgency of the strings driven forward by the drumbeat gives A New Hope a cinematic touch. The four-piece allow the instrumental music to take on a narrative shape, the melodic guitar parts, the marching drumroll, and the repetitive keys establish musical tension. A New Hope leaves a lingering taste for the journey ahead.
