Viagra Boys Finally Disturb The Peace Again On “Ain’t Nice”

2018’s Street Worms by Swedish post-punk ruffians Viagra Boys has been critically praised piece of of joyful and entertaining refusal and it surely deserves more attention, if you ask me. Now the band freshly announced a follow-up and I’m pretty sure that the five-piece from Stockholm will increase their dedicated following on Welfare Jazz. Ain’t Nice, the first single, is already a musical exclamation mark, especially if you enjoy it in combination with the funny music video. Once again loaded with satire and carried by charismatic leading man Sebastian Murphy he approaches the stereotype of the drunken punk madman in style on this one. Both – song and video – coyly mock the patriarchal macho relationship drama of “classic” post-punk and once again Viagra Boys are actually closer to pop than they might confess but that also marks the whole magic of this band. Welfare Jazz is out on January 8, 2021 via YEAR0001.
