Despite a productive release schedule and great tracks such as Like You Do in the past Scottish multi-instrumentalist C Duncan still feels like a hidden pop treasure that deserves to be discovered (despite his 2015’s debut Architect being nominated for the Mercury Prize). His new single Impossible is such a lovely gem that deserves a spot in the limelight. Surfing on a wave of tender strings the song documents the highs and lows of a long-distance relationship with an ex-boyfriend. C Duncan on the song’s story: ‘At one point he was working night shifts, so it was very hard to communicate with each other because our schedules were completely out of sync. I wanted to see him all of the time, but it was impossible to do at that point in time.’ If you leave that quite sad theme aside it’s a pretty uplifting and sweet little piece of pop, wouldn’t you agree? His third full-length Health was produced by Elbow‘s Craig Potter and arrives on March 29 via FatCat Records.
